Maanshan Steel and Iron (Group) Holding Co., Ltd.
is a special-large steel and iron joint enterprise
in China and the largest industrial one in Anhui
province. At present, it has 70000 employees and
33000 retirees. Since its foundation in August 1st
1958, it has experienced over 40-year self-accumulation
and snowball-like development. At present, it has
become a special- large steel and iron joint enterprise
with an annual production capacity of 4.5 million
ton pig iron, 4.5 million ton steel, 4.2 million
ton steel products. It owns a large H-shape steel
production line of the most advanced hot-rolling
and the largest factory of wheel-tyre specialized
manufacturing in China. It has built 15 production
lines of international standards, such as vehicle
wheel, tyre, high-speed wire rod, H-shape steel
and bar, and formed the product structure of ¡°wire
rod, wheel, plate and section bar¡±. The steel products
produced in accordance with ISO accounts for 80%
of the total output. 38 products have won the title
of the state and provincial high-quality products.
The 4 series products, ¡°wire rod, wheel, plate and
section bar¡± have all passed ISO9002 quality system
certification. Among them, the product, vehicle
wheel, has also passed North American ARR certification.
The products are exported to 26 countries and regions.
In September 1993, Maanshan Steel and Iron, as one
of the first 9 pilot enterprises of state stock
system standardization, was reformed and divided
into Maanshan Steel and Iron General Company and
Maanshan Steel and Iron Joint-stock Co., Ltd. Maanshan
Steel and Iron Joint-stock Company successfully
issued shares at home and abroad and was listed
on the stock market respectively in Shanghai and
Hongkong. It raised 6.4 billion RMB yuan at one
fell swoop. For several years, Maanshan Steel and
Iron Joint-stock Co., Ltd used the raised fund to
have constructed and completed 2500 m3 blast furnace
system project, the first large H-shape steel project
with an annual output of 600000 tons in China, bar
project, 3500m3/hour oxygen generation unit project
and conticaster project of the irregularly shaped
billet. The projects have boosted up the company¡¯s
strength for the future development. With the approval
of the former state Minister of Metallurgy Industry
and Anhui Provincial People¡¯s Government, Maanshan
Steel and Iron General Company was reformed into
Maanshan Steel and Iron Group Holding Co., Ltd.
on March 5 1998 and officially founded in September
of the same year.
In accordance with the spirit of the 4th session
of the 15th CPC National Congress, Maanshan Steel
and Iron Group Holding Co., Ltd. has established
¡°walk three steps¡± development goal: the first step
is to fulfill the marked improvement of the operating
performance by the end of the year 2000. The second
step is to reshape the company¡¯s listed image, implement
assets reorganization, adjust structure, strengthen
the primary business, steel and iron industry, start
multiple industries and increase the economic power,
markedly improve the enterprise¡¯s benefit and employees¡¯
income in the period of ¡°the 15th five year plan¡±.
The sales income will reach 14.5 billion yuan and
the steel output of the primary business will reach
280 tons per person in the end of ¡°the 15th five
¨Cyear plan¡±. The third step is to build relatively
more perfect modern enterprise system, markedly
enhance technological development ability, market
competitive power and capability to combat risk
by the year 2010. Build Maanshan Steel and Iron
(Group) Holding Co., Ltd. into a multi-level and
multi-industry modern large enterprise group with
a relatively higher scale benefits.
